IJNS Cruisers

When laid down the Nagara Class cruisers were good exampes of light cruisers. The design followed that of the Kuma class and would be continued with the subsequent Sendai class.

All six Nagara's saw significant action in the Pacific theatre serving as lead ships to destroyer squadrons. Equipped with seven 14cm or 5.5" single mounted guns in a typically WW1 configuration lacking superfiring platforms for the B and Y mounts resulted on poor conectration of fire. However they were the first class to carry the infamous Type 93 'Long Lance' torpedo.

By WWII they were increasingly outmatched and all six were lost by the end of the war.
