Here is a brief overview of the various projects that I have been involved with over the past number of years. For more information about any of these please do not hesitate to contact me.

This project continues to be a very rewarding experience. To be involved since its very beginning has provided a wide range of opportunities covering all aspects of setting-up and running a new media company.
Founded in 2008 to provide digital modelling solutions to museums and other heritage institutions 3D Encounters offers a complete service, from data acquisition to modelling to stereo displays. I was hired in June of that year to pioneer the 3D visualization process and develop an efficient work flow beginning with on-site laser scanning to supplying finished point could and polygon models for an on-line image library and exhibitions.
Laser scanning and modelling.
My primary function was to produce accurate 3D models of historical artefacts. Using a 3 colour laser system developed by Arius 3D to scan the objects and collect the geometry and colour data I build a point cloud model from a series of overlapping passes. Our first project was with the Petrie Museum in University College London, and working with museum curators I prepare a final cloud model the precisely represents the real object. From these master point clouds multiple polygonal formats are derived including PLY or STL models for rapid prototyping, OBJ for inclusion in other applications and VRML or W3D for web delivery .

On-line Project Management.
As the project grew an asset management system was required to handle the digital traffic between London, where the scanning and quality assessment was being carried out, and Cork, where the modelling was being done and Edinburgh, where the operations manager was based. Also some venders often required limited access to our resources. To keep track of the project I compiled an on-line secured management system using PHP and HTML to access a MySQL database through a web browser. I chose to build this from scratch as I found many of the available solutions did not fit the bill exactly and would require significant modifications to fit our needs.
A simple model (quicktime) Face Mould (1.25mb)
Re-topology, Colour and Normal Maps (quicktime) Canopic Jar Lid (3.64mb)
Demo reel (quicktime) Demo Reel (11mb)

A leading supplier of display material to the retail trade, J.R. Display commissioned me to design their new website to showcase their services.
Build entirely in Flash, some components required that the client could update certain text areas and upload new materials to the gallery pages. This was achieved by combining dynamic XML source material to the flash file. I supplied templates to the client to maintain the look and feel of the site yet allowing them control over mush of the content.
